IRON DJ Graduation edition: 1988

2011/03/02 by Jim Leave a Comment

It’s IRON DJ time again! Which means that a bunch of people are going to upload themed mixes and try to compete with me! Unfortunately for them, not only do I have unbeatable taste in music, but this time around I even have the IRON DJ theme going for me: GRADUATION YEAR. The idea is … [Read more…]

Jim’s favorite albums of 2010 (with MMX technology!)

2011/01/10 by Jim Leave a Comment

2010 was a milestone year–among other things, personally, it was the year my 13 year old son grew to be taller than me, which is a reminder of mortality if anything is (I mean I have to crane my neck to yell at the boy now! crazy!)–and it was a great year for music too. … [Read more…]

My new favorite thing in the whole of today

Who knew Immortal had a new video?  I did not.  This is incredible, clearly a descendant of the ludicrousness of “Call of the Wintermoon” and yet undeniably awesome.  Enjoy Yes, I know, this album came out last year, this video came out months ago. I just saw it today and it rules.

The 15 best beers of winter… and I’ve only tried 3, boo hoo

2010/12/08 by Jim Leave a Comment

Beer blog “Brewpublic” has released a list of “15 of the best beers of winter” and I am left both sad and thirsty, having only sampled 3 of the listed beers in my time.  Much of this is likely due to the fact that they are based in the Pacific Northwest and I of course … [Read more…]

Torn from the headlines… “Trapped in a pub for nine days”

2010/12/07 by Jim Leave a Comment

Reluctant rescue for seven people trapped inside British pub for nine days Snowed in at a pub “well known for its good selection of quality real ales,” plenty of pub food, plenty of coal for the fire, and warm beds to crawl back to? Sounds like a dream to me, where do I sign up? 🙂

No really, I don’t look anything like Zach Galifianakis

2010/11/29 by Jim 1 Comment

OK I have just about reached critical mass on this one so allow me to take this opportunity to correct something of a misapprehension many of you people seem to have.  Here is an example of a typical exchange I might take part in while grocery shopping or throwing darts in a pub. Random person … [Read more…]

Rich Whitey – The Illinois Gubernatorial race

2010/10/19 by Jim Leave a Comment

There was a recent hubbub about Illinois gubernatorial candidate Rich Whitney’s name being misspelled as “Rich Whitey” on some electronic ballots.  Originally the election board said it was too late to correct the error but now we’re being told that crews will be working overtime until it’s fixed.   I found the “mistake” to … [Read more…]

This is a post from Aaron’s Radio Gen1us site, archived here. The following is the text of his original post.
